I like the word Blog...

I know blogging has been a popular pastime for a while now (relatively), but I have naturally avoided it simply because I didn't want to take the time to sit down and sort out my thoughts for a few minutes every day. I'm the type of person that has to make sure everything I write is phonetically and grammatically correct, or at least close to it in my eyes, even in casual documents like this. (I've already looked up two words in the first two sentences of this blog to make sure I'm using them correctly. Too much?). So I knew that blogging would take up more time and effort than I would have liked, but now I'm forcing myself to do it because I realize that I desperately need an outlet to control and express some of my thoughts. As I'm getting older, the issues and ideas that I think about daily are more significant than they used to be, so it's becoming more important for me to harness them in a way that I can deal with them and grow as a result.
So, I've created two blog sites. One is sort of like my private journal, which can only be viewed by me. The other is this public blog site. I welcome anyone to view it, make comments, observe, contribute, do nothing, whatever you feel. I'm excited about the journey ahead!

P.S. For some reason, I really like saying "blog" or "blogging." Hmmm...

OK. So I've been out of school and officially GROWN for about 9 months now. I've been working as a self-employed musician (gigs, sessions, production, teaching, the whole 9 yards) and I'm loving it. I still can't fathom the fact that I am living on my own and supporting myself while doing what I love. THANK God! It can get tough sometimes because unlike salaried employees who work 9-5, I don't always know when and from where my checks will come. Thankfully, I don't have to trust in my own strength and power to make things happen. As a result, I believe it's my responsibility to take care of what I've been given, and to use it to impact whoever I can come in contact with in a healthy way.

Speaking of health, last night I started the workout program P90x with a friend. Whew! Intense! I'm motivated, though. I have to take care of this body and stay in tip-top shape.

That's all for now. Peace!
Marcus
